How does the procedure work?

Fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to cold than other surround tissue.  This scientiific principle is called "Cryolipolysis^TM."  During the procedure, a non-invasive applicated delivers precisely controlled cooling to target and elimnate fat cells in specific arease of your body.  When fat cells are exposed to cooling during procedure, it triggers a process of natural removal, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer.  The result is a reduction in fat buldges that is visible in most patients in two to four months.

What areas can be treated with CoolSculpting by Zeltiq?

Treatment areas include the abdomen, hips, flanks, back and bra fat area, backs of arms, inner or outer thigh area as well as the backs of thighs (just under your bottom). Coolsculpting by Zeltiq is very effective treatment for the male chest area.

How long does CoolSculpting by Zeltiq treatment take in the office?

Each area treated will need an hour of time, so depending upon your treatment selection, you could anticipate anywhere from and hour to a few hours of time during your treatment. The convenience of CoolSculpting by Zeltiq allows you to work or watch a movie, read a magazine, or take the time to just relax. If it's not possible to treat all the desired areas in one visit, you may return on the days that do work into your schedule.

What should I expect after CoolSculpting by Zeltiq treatment?

Very few patients report discomfort as the treated area returns to room temperature, however 5% of patients report these few minutes to be uncomfortable. If discomfort occurs, it will resolve quickly. There may be mild bruising and swelling in the treated which too, resolves quickly. Patients commonly report some numbness or tenderness in the treated area for several days to weeks, but nothing that should keep you from working, exercising, and enjoying life as you know it.

What happens during the CoolSculpting by Zeltiq procedure?

We will first mark and position the system handpiece on the selected area for treatment. The device draws the fatty area up between two cooling panels. The sensation is a firm tug and pull ( like a strong vacuum suction)– enough pull to ensure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently.

What does 'fat freezing' feel like?

As the panels go to work in the first few minutes, there is a sensation of intense cold. Once the treated area is at the desired temperature, you will feel comfortable to read, work, or just relax.

When will I see results?

You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. Your body will continue flushing fat cells for up to four months.

Are the results permanent?

The treated fat cells are eliminated permanently. As long as you maintain your weight with normal diet and exercise, long-term results should remain stable (similar to the expectancy of liposuction results).

Is CoolSculpting by Zeltiq an alternative to Liposuction?

CoolSculpting by Zeltiq is an appropriate alternative for many patients who consider liposuction. It is best, however to discuss the options during your consultation, to determine the treatment selection that is right for you. Patients with more unwanted fat in an area than a single Coolscupting by Zeltiq procedure will address may be wise to consider multiple (2 or 3) Coolsculpting by Zeltiq treatments to be more similar to what surgery can provide.
