A Natural Healing Response

Even minor skin issues can diminish our confidence. At Concierge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery, we provide microneedling to resolve a range of aesthetic skin concerns. The microneedling process involves using an FDA-approved pen equipped with tiny needles to create microchannels in the skin. This procedure stimulates the body's natural collagen and elastin production, which can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.

Is Microneedling Right for Me?

One of the benefits of microneedling is that it can be performed on various parts of the body, including the neck and hands. This makes it a versatile treatment option for those looking to improve the appearance of their skin in multiple areas. Microneedling is a simple procedure and an excellent option for those who:

  • Want to improve the overall appearance of their skin
  • Have fine lines, wrinkles, or other signs of aging
  • Have acne scars or different types of scars
  • Have hyperpigmentation or sun damage
  • Have uneven skin texture or tone

Your Microneedling Consultation

If you're considering microneedling in the Chicago area, visit one of our five locations for an initial consultation. We also offer virtual consultations for your convenience. Our goal is to ensure you feel confident and informed throughout your treatment. During your consultation, our team will evaluate your skin and discuss your desired outcome. We will review your medical history and discuss any potential risks or complications associated with the procedure. We will provide information about the process, including what to expect during recovery. We will also recommend topical skincare products to optimize your results. Many patients pair microneedling with a PRP treatment to encourage healing and more rapid results.

The Day of Your Procedure

Before the procedure begins, the skin is thoroughly cleaned, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to help minimize any discomfort. The microneedling device is then used to create tiny channels in the skin, typically on the face, neck, or chest. Patients may feel a slight prickling or tingling during the procedure, but the treatment is generally easily tolerated. The length of the process can vary depending on the size of the treatment area, but it typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

Recovery after Microneedling

After the microneedling procedure, patients may experience redness, swelling, and tenderness in the treated area. These side effects are typical and usually subside within a few days. The recovery period for microneedling typically lasts between 24 to 72 hours, depending on the individual and the depth of the treatment. During the recovery period, avoiding direct sunlight and applying broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher is important. Patients should also avoid using harsh skincare products, such as exfoliants or retinoids, for at least 24 hours before and after the procedure.

We also advise using a gentle moisturizer and not touching or picking at the treated area. It is also recommended to avoid strenuous exercise and activities that may cause excessive sweating for at least 24 hours after the procedure. Following your treatment, you can expect to see a significant improvement in the appearance of your skin. Our clients typically notice a visible improvement in their skin within the first few days after treatment, with continued improvement over the following weeks and months as the skin rebuilds itself from within.
